Mr. John Bassie, Chief Executive Officer of the Dispute Resolution Foundation, Jamaica, and IMPACT Justice Arbitration Legislation Committee Member
Mr. John Bassie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Dispute Resolution Foundation, Jamaica, and member of the IMPACT Justice Arbitration Legislation Committee, represented IMPACT Justice at the conference and delivered a presentation entitled, “ADR in our Region”.
In his presentation, Mr. Bassie highlighted the IMPACT Justice Project and the work that the Project is doing to strengthen legal frameworks in the region and to promote the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution methods. He also referred to the work of the Dispute Resolution Foundation and CIArb as ADR service providers and trainers.
Mr. Bassie told participants of the marketability of ADR services domestically and its export potential and further advised that if we improved ADR frameworks, the region could then be known for more than “our exceptional brand of hospitality; our fantastic sports men and women; our exquisite cuisine; our beautiful women; our enchanting rhythms; and our phenomenal blend of cultures,” but also for “our success in resolving disputes”.
