Every year Soroptimist International of Jamestown and other civic minded organizations come together, under the auspices of the Bureau of Gender Affairs to observe Sixteen Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence. All entities involved plan activities aimed at creating awareness, distributing information, advocating for the elimination of gender-based violence and offering support to victims. The events are scheduled for the period November 25 to December 10.

This year, 2022, Soroptimist International of Jamestown is partnering with the Canadian Government funded, IMPACT Justice Project on two awareness raising activities, the first being, a Purple Teardrop March on November 25th at Sky Mall. At this event, representatives of the IMPACT Justice Project and Soroptimist International of Jamestown will assemble on the grounds of the Sky Mall to distribute literature and purple ribbons to raise awareness on Human Trafficking.

The second event, which will be held on December 3rd, is a T-shirt Art Competition which will be held on the grounds of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church, in the parish of St. James.
