IMPACT Justice Sexual Harassment Legislation Committee Meeting in Grenada

The IMPACT Justice Sexual Harassment Legislation Committee met in Grand Anse, Grenada on February 8th and 9th, 2016, to review IMPACT Justice’s draft model Sexual Harassment Bill.  This meeting followed on the heels of the IMPACT Justice Sexual Harassment Legislation Workshop held in November, 2015, where the Draft Model Sexual Harassment Bill was introduced to stakeholders who provided feedback to inform amendments.

The meeting was attended by nine Committee members (1 male and 8 female) who reviewed the Draft Model Sexual Harassment Bill and provided comments.

The IMPACT Justice Sexual Harassment Legislation Committee, comprises representatives of Attorneys General, the CARICOM Secretariat, Social Services Departments, Bureaus of Gender Affairs, the Police Department and legislative drafters from CARICOM Member States, will discuss and agree on a way forward for finalization of the Draft Model Sexual Harassment Bill.

The meeting concluded on February 9th with His Excellency Richard Hanley, High Commissioner for Canada to Barbados meeting with Committee Members to solicit their views on sexual harassment legislation in the region.
