On November 25th and 26th, 2015, IMPACT Justice hosted a workshop to discuss a Draft Report prepared by its consultant legislative drafter, on the CARICOM Model Protection against Sexual Harassment Bill and Recommendations for a new Bill for CARICOM Member States. This meeting fell under the Project’s legislation and treaty drafting component and within the cross cutting theme of gender equality.
The meeting was held at the Coco Palm Hotel and was attended by 20 persons (17 females and 3 males). Amongst those present were the Heads of the Gender Institutes of UWI Mona and Cave Hill, the Deputy Representative for UN Women, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean and a representative from the CARICOM Secretariat. The other attendees were representatives from regional Gender Bureaus, Trade Unions and Employers Confederations, Women’s Groups, Gender Specialists and representatives from AGs Chambers.
Over the two days participants were able to review and give feedback on the CARICOM Draft Bill prepared in 1997 and suggest recommendations for the new draft.
